About

About me: I have been an educator for two decades and have worked in a variety of settings, from early elementary to higher education, from traditional public schools to online charter schools to progressive independent schools. After graduating from Colby College and a stint in magazine publishing, I began my career as a substitute teacher and teaching assistant in an elementary school special education resource room, and then went on to earn an MAT in English Education from Boston University. I spent much of my career teaching high school English before moving into higher education for the Johns Hopkins University - Teacher Development Partnership with Teach for America and TNTP, where I was an adjunct professor in the MSEd program. I've returned to the classroom to teach 4th grade at the Jewish Community Day School of Rhode Island, where I am also the Education Technology coordinator and Director of Community and Inclusion. The Digital Media Literacy course is utterly relevant to my work examining the intersection of education, media, and youth and I'm thrilled to be a part of the summer 2021 cohort. And...I am a proud Providence Public Schools parent and I like striped shirts, coffee, running, the beach, and the three loves of my life, Jack, Meg and Josephine.

I just learned how to take a bathroom selfie this year...
